Almost every year, for the past 35 years, I’ve vacationed on the same small island on the Carolina coast and spent a good deal of that time making strange objects out of sand. While many of them weren’t photographed, I’ve compiled a few here to remember them by. Just click an image to see it larger.
I made this sand castle of the L.A. Coliseum in the summer of 2008. I was pretty pumped for the college football season. I turned a bunch of photos into this short video and sent it to my buddies at Trojanwire.com. They shared it with their audience and, soon after, the L.A. Times posted it to their blog “All Things Trojan.” Fun stuff. Too bad it was the windiest North Carolina gets without a hurricane, which made the sculpting 10 times harder than it should have been. But it’s fun to look back on now.
